Poem inspired by a person special in my life at that time.

This poem "Friends and Lovers" was written for the man in my life in 1999 when I was holidaying in Albany.  We had only known each other a few months but I was missing him very much and these were my feelings at that time. He and I are no longer a couple, but I still wanted to display what I think is one of my better poems.

Friends and Lovers
 
Friends and lovers we will be forever more
What problems we have to endure
Joined heart and soul as never before
Hopefully never parted, our love is pure
 
Friends and lovers throughout our twilight years
Joined together, me to you, you to me
Together we will be through joy and tears
Good or bad, together we will be
 
Friends and lovers that's what we are
Our love will be steadfast and strong
Even if the distance between us is far
To each other our hearts belong.

FOR MY LOVE
 
Are you my first love or my last?
Are you the one who will forever stir my soul?
Are you my future, my present, my past?
Are you going to be there when I reach my life goal?
 
My darling, you are deeply embedded in my heart
My lover, why within my heart, do you stay?
My love, once together, I hope that we may never be apart
My dearest, you take my breath away
 
Will we be together until the very end?
Will our love withstand any strain?
Will our hearts always have love to send?
Will we always think each other the main?

Distance Of The Heart
 
You wandered by chance into my heart
Your gentleness and sincerity shining through
Although we were brough up worlds apart
The words you say, I know are true.
 
My family and some friends mock our love
They think because we have never met
That our feeling cant come from above
It's impossible, they say, to fall in love on the net.
 
I know the trueness of my feelings for you
You entered my life and make me want to sing
The laughs, I enjoy when I am feeling blue
You are not just another internet fling.
 
The distance of our hearts is never far apart
While the love we feel for each other is real
Our love will last when our life together does start
No-one will then deny how our hearts feel.
